China's Moonshot Frees Kimi K3 AI Weights for Public Download
Moonshot AI will release the weights for its Kimi K3 open-weight model, touted as the largest openly available AI model at 2.8 trillion parameters with a 1-million-token context window, enabling developers to download, tweak and host the model. The move aims to broaden adoption beyond US proprietary systems, as Moonshot pursues a roughly $50 billion valuation and a potential Hong Kong IPO, while US concerns about Nvidia chips and model distillation frame the broader tech rivalry. Bloomberg notes cloud providers have not yet integrated open-weight Chinese models.
