Four of Uranus' Moons May Contain Water, Study Finds.

New computer modeling and re-analysis of data from NASA's Voyager spacecraft suggest that four of Uranus' largest moons, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, and Oberon, likely contain an ocean layer between their cores and icy crusts. The study is the first to detail the evolution of the interior makeup and structure of all five large moons. The work suggests four of the moons hold oceans that could be dozens of miles deep. The findings could inform how a future mission might investigate the moons and have implications for other icy bodies in the solar system.
