"Mars' View: Witnessing a Solar Eclipse from the Red Planet"

NASA's Mars Perseverance rover captured a stunning image of the larger of Mars' two moons, Phobos, passing in front of the Sun, using its Left Mastcam-Z camera on February 8, 2024. Despite its small size, Phobos appears impressive against the distant Sun due to its close orbit to Mars. The image, which shows colorful dots that are artifacts rather than stars, was released by NASA and put into a video sequence by planetary scientist Paul Byrne.
