"Underachieving Black Hole Identified by NASA's Chandra Telescope"

NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory has identified a quasar, a supermassive black hole located 3.4 billion light-years from Earth, that is underachieving in its impact on its host galaxy. Despite being highly active, this quasar appears to have little effect on its surroundings, challenging previous assumptions about the influence of quasars. The study used Chandra to reveal that the quasar's influence on the hot gas in its host galaxy is minimal, suggesting that non-quasar black holes may have a greater impact on their surroundings.
