"Webb Telescope Discovers 13.2 Billion-Year-Old Black Hole at Dawn of the Universe"

Astronomers have discovered the oldest black hole ever observed, dating from 400 million years after the Big Bang, challenging assumptions about how black holes form and grow. The surprisingly massive black hole, a few million times the mass of our Sun, is still in the process of consuming its host galaxy, GN-z11, which is about one hundred times smaller than the Milky Way. The findings, reported in the journal Nature, were made possible by the James Webb Space Telescope, and the researchers hope to use future observations to untangle the different ways that black holes might form.
