"Northern Lights: Where and When to Catch the Spectacular Display in the US"

The aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights, could be visible in more than a dozen states in the United States between July 12 and 13, weather permitting. The states that have the highest chances of seeing the lights include Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Indiana, Vermont, and Maryland. The lights will also be visible in Canadian cities such as Vancouver and Toronto. The best time to see the lights is when the sky is clear and dark, usually within an hour or two of midnight. The aurora borealis is caused by solar winds from the sun interacting with Earth's magnetic field, and the next peak in activity is expected around 2025.
