"Stunning Astronaut Photos Capture 'Blood of Earth' from Space"

Astronauts onboard the International Space Station (ISS) have captured stunning photographs of Earth's reddish-brown waters, resembling blood. The images show the Laguna Colorada in the Bolivian Andes and the Betsiboka River Delta in Madagascar, both displaying different causes for their coloration. The rusty red hue in the Laguna Colorada is due to red algae thriving in hyper-salty shallow waters, while the Betsiboka River's red color is caused by iron-rich sediment. Similar processes occur in other bodies of water, such as the Great Salt Lake in Utah. The phenomenon is a result of optimal environmental conditions and not actual blood.
