"First-Ever Discovery: Water Detected on Two Asteroids by NASA"

NASA's retired Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) has detected water molecules on the surface of two silicate-rich asteroids, Iris and Massalia, for the first time, challenging previous assumptions about water distribution in the solar system. This discovery may provide insights into how water was delivered to Earth and suggests that water on our planet may have arrived via asteroids in the early days of the solar system. Further research will be conducted to investigate if other asteroids also possess water on their surfaces, using the James Webb Space Telescope for more detailed examination.
