TL;DR

NASA's Parker Solar Probe is set to make a historic approach to the Sun, coming within 3.8 million miles of its atmosphere, the closest a human-made object has ever been. This event, likened to the Moon landing of 1969, will see the probe endure extreme temperatures while providing valuable data on the Sun's properties and space weather. The mission aims to enhance our understanding of the Sun and improve our ability to live and work in space.
