"NASA's Artemis Moon Car Takes Cues from Mars Rovers"

NASA is seeking proposals from private companies for the development of a lunar terrain vehicle (LTV) that will transport astronauts and conduct experiments semi-autonomously during the Artemis program's future missions to the moon. The LTV will be equipped with scientific instruments, a robotic arm, and prospecting tools to explore the lunar surface and find resources more efficiently. The vehicle will need to function and navigate under extreme environmental conditions and remain powered through extended periods of darkness. Crewed operations using the LTV are expected to begin in 2029 during Artemis 5.
