Perseverance Rover Records Historic Flight of Ingenuity Helicopter on Mars

NASA's Ingenuity helicopter drone captured footage of its 47th flight on Mars, covering 1,444 feet of flight distance and reaching a top speed of 11.9 mph. The drone remains in good health and is expected to fly again in a few weeks. Ingenuity is not only scouting for the Perseverance rover but also serving as a testbed for NASA's and the European Space Agency's sample return mission. Perseverance and Ingenuity are working together on an eight-month campaign exploring a region that may have had a life-friendly river delta and lake billions of years ago.
