St. Louis Man Discovers Doobie Brothers Frontman Michael McDonald Is His Biological Father
Michael Goessling, a 59-year-old executive in St. Louis, has reconnected with his biological father, five-time Grammy winner Michael McDonald, after nearly six decades. The reunion, which began in 2025, was facilitated by a DNA match through 23andMe involving McDonald’s son. McDonald, who was 14 when he fathered Goessling, had carried guilt about the adoption for years but expressed relief that his son had a stable upbringing. Goessling, a lifelong fan of the Doobie Brothers, had previously attended two of McDonald’s concerts without knowing the singer was his father. The two have since met in person and share a mutual interest in adoption advocacy.
