Three Tornadoes Hit Chicago Suburbs, Sparking Outages and Cleanup
At least three tornadoes touched down in Chicago area’s south and southwest suburbs, causing widespread damage, uprooted trees, and power outages. Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights lost power and had roof damage; Tinley Park’s Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre was damaged; a fire in Frankfort was sparked by downed power lines. About 250 students sheltered at Homewood-Flossmoor High School as storms prompted closures. The National Weather Service is assessing the damage, with more storms possible later, and cleanup is underway across Mokena, Monee, Orland Park and surrounding communities.
