Muscle Mass Decline and Visceral Fat Linked to CKD Outcomes in Stage 3 Patients
In a prospective UK cohort of 1,732 stage 3 CKD patients, lower creatinine muscle index (CMI) was tied to higher all-cause mortality and CKD progression over 5 years, while higher waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) predicted more cardiovascular events; age, male sex, higher urine albumin:creatinine ratio, and lower serum albumin also increased risk.
