Dell XPS 13 Returns as a $700 Rival to Apple’s MacBook Neo

Dell has revived the XPS 13 as an affordable thin-and-light laptop, positioning it as a direct competitor to Apple’s MacBook Neo. Priced at $700 for the base model, it features a 13.4-inch 120Hz display, an Intel Core 5 320 processor, and a sleek aluminum chassis. While the 8GB RAM version is usable, reviewers recommend the $1,000 16GB model for better long-term performance. The device lacks a headphone jack and traditional ports, but offers strong build quality and battery life.

Dell XPS 13: A budget MacBook Neo rival hamstrung by 8GB RAM

Engadget's review finds the Dell XPS 13 (2026) is a near‑MacBook Neo competitor praised for its light build, long battery life, and a 120Hz display, but hampered by an 8GB RAM base configuration, slower CPU, and a dated mechanical trackpad; for most buyers the smarter move is to pay extra for 16GB RAM to get a usable Windows 11 experience and future‑proofing, otherwise it's a decent sub‑$1k option with caveats.

Dell's XPS 13 Delivers Surprising Power Efficiency Against Apple Silicon

Jeff Geerling’s comparison pits the MacBook Neo against Dell’s XPS 13 in a Linpack-style efficiency test: the MacBook hits 57.0 GFLOPS at 10.6W (5.38 GFLOPS/W), while the Dell posts 127.9 GFLOPS at 20.6W (6.21 GFLOPS/W); Dell also scores for Linux support and a backlit keyboard, with idle energy use similar to the MacBook.
