Massive Glasgow blaze shuts Central Station and disrupts rail links
A massive fire on Union Street in Glasgow engulfed a four‑storey historic building near Glasgow Central, partially collapsing it and prompting the station’s closure along with widespread UK rail disruption; 18 fire engines and three high‑reach units battled the blaze for hours with no casualties reported. First Minister John Swinney thanked emergency crews and urged the public to stay away while damage to the 19th‑century building was assessed.
