KASA Reveals Moon Images After SpaceX Debris Collision
South Korea’s space agency released lunar images showing the Moon after debris from a SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage struck its surface at about 06:35 GMT; the impact, which occurred in daylight for many, did not threaten Earth. The roughly 4,000 kg spent stage, part of a January 2025 mission carrying two lunar landers, was in a looping Earth–Moon orbit before colliding with the Moon at roughly 5,400 mph. KASA and other observatories are analyzing data, and experts warn that increasing space traffic and debris could complicate future missions.
