Luxor Chamber Uncovers 22 Coffins of Amun Singers and Eight Sealed Papyri
Archaeologists working in Luxor’s Asasif necropolis uncovered a rock-cut burial chamber containing 22 painted coffins of the Singers of Amun and eight sealed papyri, arranged in ten rows as a deliberate, organized funerary cache. The find, dating to the Third Intermediate Period, highlights temple administration and a collective burial practice for female temple officials; conservation is underway and the papyri await translation to shed light on temple lore, administration, or embalming practices.
