
Antarctic Midnight Medevac: Australian Crew Rescues Patient in -43°C Darkness
An Australian Skytraders crew conducted a high-risk midwinter medical evacuation from McMurdo Station, landing in total darkness at -43°C on an ice runway with a medevac-modified Airbus A319 (Snowbird 1), transferring the patient to Christchurch; after a 12-hour weather delay, the aircraft departed Hobart and landed on Ross Island, and the patient is now recovering.
