Mitsubishi Reboots Pajero/Montero With Boxy Design, Diesel Torque and Serious Off-Road Tech
Mitsubishi is reviving the Pajero/Montero as a fifth‑generation, body‑on‑frame SUV with rugged off‑road credentials: a 9.1-inch ground clearance, three rows, and a 113-inch wheelbase, powered by a turbocharged 2.4‑L diesel delivering about 204 hp and 354 lb‑ft of torque, paired to an eight‑speed automatic and all‑wheel drive with Super‑All Wheel Control and Active Yaw Control. It features a modern interior with dual 14.3-inch screens and a digital off‑road telemetry Multi Meter, relocated spare wheel underneath, and 255/55R20 tires. Production starts in Thailand (with the Triton) and launches in Japan and Australia by March 2027, followed by a wider 100‑market rollout; U.S. availability and pricing remain undecided.
