UN Documents Systematic Sexual Violence by Russian Forces in Ukraine
The UN OHCHR report documents 1,004 cases of sexual violence linked to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine (Feb 2022–July 2026), involving victims aged 4–82, with torture and coercion in detention settings. Most perpetrators are Russian troops (89%), and the most common method involved electric shocks via a tapik. Survivor testimonies describe rape, threats, and gang violence. The report calls for protection and accountability, notes Ukrainian forces account for about 11% of cases, and that Russia rejects the findings; the study is based on interviews, court records, and official documents.
