Gamescom stacks nostalgia with new worlds
At Gamescom in Cologne, the world’s biggest in-person gaming event, publishers unveiled a mix of remakes and bold new settings: The Witcher 3 gains a free upgrade and a Songs of the Past expansion, Alien: Isolation 2 promises tighter tension in larger spaces, the 2027 Fable reboot emphasizes Britishness with a large UK voice cast, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis remakes Lara’s classic adventure, and Silent Hill Townfall relocates the frightful series to Scotland; the show also featured GDQ charity marathons and public demos from Xbox and Sega, with attendance expected to surpass last year’s 350,000+ crowd.
