Snapdragon X2 upgrades light up Microsoft's Surface Laptop 8 and Pro 12, but they come at a premium
Microsoft has refreshed the Surface Laptop 8 and Surface Pro 12 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 chips, delivering about 53% faster graphics and longer battery life (Laptop 8 up to 20 hours, Pro 12 up to 15.5 hours) but at higher starting prices ($1,599 for Laptop 8 and $1,499 for Pro 12). The updates bring expanded RAM options (up to 24–64 GB), a Jade color for the Laptop 8, and a Dune Flex Keyboard accessory for the Pro 12, plus improved 13– to 15-inch PixelSense Flow displays with high brightness and 120 Hz. Specs include USB-C/USB4, Wi‑Fi 7, and premium build quality. Microsoft is sweetening the deal with promos (free keyboard with certain models, free Arc Mouse with Laptop, 50% off Microsoft Complete) and trade-in offers up to $900; consumer models are available now, with business variants arriving July 14.
