Spouse’s Dementia May Elevate Your Own Risk, Study Finds
A Taiwan study of nearly 1 million married adults found that having a spouse with dementia raises the other partner’s dementia risk by about 69% for men and 74% for women, across all dementia types. Researchers cite lifelong shared habits, assortative mating, and caregiving stress as possible contributors, with the effect persisting across income and education levels.
