Astronomers Confirm First Dual 'Super-Puff' Exoplanet System 1,113 Light-Years Away
Astronomers have confirmed the existence of two Jupiter-sized exoplanets, TOI-791 b and TOI-791 c, orbiting a Sun-like star 1,113 light-years from Earth. These 'super-puff' planets possess densities lower than cotton candy, making them exceptionally rare. The discovery, led by Dr. George Dransfield, utilized data from NASA’s TESS space telescope and ground-based observations, including the longest complete planetary transits ever recorded from Earth. The findings suggest the planets formed together from the same gas and dust disk, offering a unique opportunity to study planetary formation and evolution.
