
Eyes in the Sky: Ukraine's special operators adapt trench assaults to drones
Ukrainian special operations forces are updating trench-clearing tactics to the drone-saturated battlefield, training to spot and counter drones while moving in tightly coordinated teams. A front-line kill zone shaped by drones has pushed units to emphasize skywatch duties—one soldier in each duo or quartet always scanning the air—and to use pump-action shotguns as a last-resort defense against FPV drones, with Gur, a unit commander, noting the constant need to watch the sky during assaults.
