New Jersey Confirms First Travel-Associated Zika Case in Six Years
New Jersey has confirmed its first Zika virus case since 2020, involving a resident of Middlesex County who contracted the infection through travel. State health officials emphasize that the risk to the general public remains low, as there has been no local mosquito transmission. While the virus poses significant risks to pregnant individuals, it is currently rare in the U.S., with only six total cases reported this year, all linked to travel.
