Discovery of Water Vapor in Solar System's Asteroid Belt.

Water vapor has been detected in the asteroid belt of the Solar System for the first time, thanks to the James Webb Space Telescope. The water is ejected by a rare comet in the Main Belt, revealing that water from the time of the Solar System's formation has been preserved there. The discovery confirms that asteroid belt objects could have helped deliver water to Earth while the Solar System was still young and that Main Belt comets have enough ice for the outgassing that results when that ice sublimates under the Sun's warmth.
