May Skywatching: Planets, Moon, and Photo Opportunities.

NASA has released a guide to the night sky for May, highlighting opportunities for astrophotographers to capture planets rising in proximity to the Moon. Skywatchers will see Saturn rising with a half-full Moon on May 13, an extremely slim crescent Moon on May 17, and Jupiter close to the Moon for most of the month. Venus will reach its peak position in May before disappearing from the night sky entirely in July. For those in the southern hemisphere, constellations and the Moon will appear upside down compared to the northern hemisphere.
