"Radio Signal Traces Gravitational Waves in Cosmic Symphony"

Scientists have discovered a correlation between fast radio bursts (FRBs) and gravitational waves, which could help explain the origins of these mysterious signals. The detection of an FRB by the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME) occurred just two and a half hours after the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) detected a gravitational wave event from roughly the same location. The leading hypothesis for FRBs is young magnetars, but this new discovery suggests that the collision of neutron stars could also be a cause. The 2.5 hour time delay between the two detections is consistent with the survival time of the combined neutron star before collapsing into a black hole.
