Rare celestial event: Moon eclipses Jupiter and Mercury in conjunction.

The crescent Moon passed in front of Jupiter in a rare event called an occultation, visible in part or in full from across North America. Skilled astrophotographers captured the event, which saw the Moon move across Jupiter to cover it up from view for a few minutes. The next occultation of Jupiter by the Moon will take place on September 8, 2026.
