Unveiling the Mysteries: Exploring the Aftermath of the Big Bang with Cutting-Edge Telescopes

The National Science Foundation has awarded $3.7 million to the University of Chicago for the development of next-generation telescopes that will map the cosmic microwave background (CMB) and gravitational waves created in the aftermath of the Big Bang. These telescopes, in collaboration with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, will be built in Antarctica and Chile and are expected to become operational by the early 2030s. The project aims to study primordial gravitational waves, map the CMB in detail, and explore the nature of dark matter and dark energy.
