Chicago Police Investigate Assault at Hyde Park Fraternity House
A 21-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted by an unknown man at a party in the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house near the University of Chicago early Sunday. Chicago police are investigating the incident, which occurred just before 2 a.m. The suspect fled after another person intervened, and security footage captured his description. The university and the fraternity’s national headquarters have suspended all events at the chapter pending the investigation. The victim, who is not a university student, was treated at University of Chicago Hospital. This incident occurs amid heightened scrutiny of fraternity conduct following the recent resurfacing of the Cornell University sexual assault case.
