NASA's visualisation studio has created a virtual porthole window to show the staggering rise in sea levels since 1993, caused by added water from melting ice sheets and glaciers and the expansion of seawater as it warms, both exacerbated by global warming. An intensifying El Niño is also on the cards, adding to the woes of an already warming ocean. As growing emissions continue to raise the planet's fever, time is running out to prevent full-blown chaos.
