Enhancing Parkinson's stem-cell therapy with autologous Treg cells
Researchers have conducted a study on the co-transplantation of autologous regulatory T (Treg) cells in a cell therapy for Parkinson's disease. The study showed that the co-transplantation of Treg cells with induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived dopaminergic progenitor cells improved motor function and reduced depressive behaviors in parkinsonian monkeys. Treg cells have immunomodulatory properties and can potentially enhance the survival and function of transplanted cells. This research highlights the potential of combining Treg cells with cell-based therapies for Parkinson's disease.
