
Reno-area Hawk Fire Expands, Sparking Mass Evacuations and Power Cuts
The Hawk Fire near Reno has grown to over 10,000 acres, remains 0% contained, and has forced tens of thousands to evacuate with many more under evacuation warnings. Authorities opened evacuation centers, closed roads and airports, and declared a Washoe County state of emergency as firefighting crews, supported by the Nevada National Guard, battle the fast-moving blaze. About 10,000 customers are without power due to emergency de-energization, with gas service temporarily shut for safety; updates and evacuation guidance are being provided via perimeter maps and local agencies.
