France Preps Carrier Move Toward Red Sea for Possible Hormuz Mission
France is diverting its nuclear-powered carrier strike group led by the Charles de Gaulle into the Red Sea and toward the Gulf of Aden in a pre-positioning move for a possible multinational effort to secure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The deployment, described as defensive and in line with international law, aims to reassure shipping, integrate partner contributions, and assess the regional environment before any Hormuz operation; the move is presented as separate from other regional actions, and the Dutch frigate Evertsen has left the carrier group.
