Ultrathin NbSe2 Reveals Two-Band Superconductivity Masked as One Gap
Using tunneling spectroscopy on ultrathin NbSe2 (and TaS2), researchers found evidence for two superconducting bands that act like one due to strong interband scattering during the Cooper-pair lifetime, meaning the measured single gap hides a two-band superconductivity; a two-band model fits the data better than a single-band theory and suggests thicker NbSe2 could host even richer superconducting states across related TMDs.
