Ukraine Targets Roscosmos' Core Rocket Factory, Threatening Russia's Space Launches

A Ukrainian missile strike hit the Progress Rocket Space Center in Russia’s Samara region, a hub that builds Soyuz-2 rockets and underpins Roscosmos’ launch cadence for ISS transport, military satellites, and Earth observation. Zelenskyy said Flamingo missiles were used, and imagery suggests Building 106A (a clean-room avionics facility) may have been damaged. If confirmed, production delays could slow launches through 2027–2030, compounding Roscosmos’ funding and international-isolation challenges and potentially denting Russia’s space ambitions relative to the U.S. and China.

Ukraine expands long-range strikes, hits Roscosmos facility and air base in Russia

Ukraine conducted a large long-range strike into Russia’s Samara region, hitting industrial sites including a Roscosmos‑affiliated Progress Center; Kyiv says Flamingo missiles were used and the attack reached about 560 miles from the border, while Russia said air defenses repelled it with localized damage. Zelenskyy called for peace to be felt in Russia through concrete damage to specific facilities. The broader campaign shows a rise in long-range strikes, with Russia claiming to have shot down 598 Ukrainian drones; separate drone incidents wounded a child in the Moscow region and Russian strikes caused casualties elsewhere in Ukraine.

"Airbnb Cofounder's Startup Raises $41M for Prefab House Venture"

Airbnb cofounder Joe Gebbia's startup, Samara, has raised $41 million in funding to expand its operations in building small, pre-fabricated houses known as accessory dwelling units (ADUs). Samara aims to simplify the process of adding ADUs to properties by offering online ordering and pre-assembled delivery. The company's initial product, called Backyard, ranges from 420 to 690 square feet and costs between $269,000 and $369,000. Samara plans to target the growing demand for additional living spaces driven by multigenerational living, remote work, and rental income. The funding round was led by Thrive Capital, with participation from investors including Airbnb and its cofounders.
