Berkshire Bets Long-Term on Japan's Trading Houses Amid Yield Rise
Greg Abel said higher Japanese bond yields aren’t a fundamental hurdle for Berkshire’s five major trading-house stakes (Itochu, Marubeni, Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Sumitomo), which Berkshire owns at above 10% after six years with permission. He noted Japan’s 10-year yield around 3% is still modest compared with global bonds, and Berkshire expects to raise debt in yen when appropriate, underscoring a long-term value thesis and ongoing opportunities in Japan and beyond.
