Kyrgios hit with provisional ban after cocaine positive test
Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for cocaine at an ATP 250 event in Mallorca, with a WADA-lab confirming the metabolite benzoylecgonine. The ITIA says the suspension is mandatory and its length will be determined by whether the substance was taken in- or out-of-competition. Kyrgios publicly apologized on Instagram, said he would step away from social media for 28 days to focus on getting himself right, and cited injuries and the pressure of near the end of his career as context for the mistake.
