Fugitive master yachtsman captured off New Jersey after decades on the run
Ronald L. Fischer, once dubbed Rhode Island’s "master yachtsman", was captured off New Jersey more than 20 years after fleeing a 2005 first-degree sexual assault trial; convicted in absentia for an assault on his yacht, he sailed under aliases including Richard Graydon aboard the 56-foot Silver Lining before surrendering to U.S. Marshals and facing federal and state charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and failure to appear, on top of a life sentence with parole eligibility after 25 years.
