Watch a Black Hole Tear Through Space in Real Time

NASA has photographed a supermassive black hole moving through space, creating a trail of hot, blue stars as it launches away from the core of a far-off galaxy. The discovery, if confirmed, would be the first of its kind ever seen by humans and would provide more insight into the movement of black holes across the universe. The black hole was discovered by Yale University’s Pieter van Dokkum with the Hubble Space Telescope, and the findings will be further explored by the team with follow-up observations through the James Webb Space Telescope and the Chandra X-Ray Observatory.
