A bright fireball, believed to be a small fragment of an asteroid, streaked across the mid-Atlantic states at a speed of 36,000 miles per hour. Visible from multiple states, including Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York, the fireball disintegrated at an altitude of 22 miles above Pennsylvania. Over 400 people reported seeing the fireball, which was as bright as a quarter moon.
