TL;DR

NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has captured images of the impact site of the failed HAKUTO-R Mission 1 lunar lander, which was launched by ispace in December 2022. The lander failed to land safely on the Moon, and debris and unusual surface changes were detected near the intended landing site in April 2023. Further analysis is planned to verify these findings. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter will continue to observe the site under various lighting conditions and viewing angles.
