DHS watchdog accuses agency of obstructing internal probes under Noem
The DHS inspector general says the department is systematically obstructing internal investigations by withholding records in at least 10 probes, including a push from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to list all pending matters so audits or investigations could be terminated. DHS has also revoked OIG access to several critical databases (ICE’s Enforcement Integrated Database, classified-access tracking, TSA Secure Flight, and a Border Patrol data system), forcing case‑by‑case requests and slowing oversight. The letter, discussed during a Senate hearing, highlights bipartisan frustration with DHS cooperation.
