Sony’s final disc plant trims production, delaying the disc phase-out
Sony says its last discmaking plant (Thalgau) will reduce 2028 disc production by about 10% rather than 90%, clarifying that the overall volume decline is around 10% in 2028. While this slows the pace of phasing out physical discs, Sony hasn’t detailed ongoing restructuring or retraining of staff for microlenses.
