Revolutionary Drug Eradicates Bowel Cancer, Offering Hope to Patients

Researchers at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute have made a breakthrough in understanding the role of gamma delta T cells in preventing bowel cancer. These immune cells patrol and safeguard the large bowel, acting as frontline defenders against potential cancer threats. The study found that patients with more gamma delta T cells in their tumors had better outcomes and improved survival. The researchers also discovered that the microbiome in the large bowel affects the concentration of a molecule called TCF-1 on gamma delta T cells, which suppresses their ability to fight off bowel cancer. This research opens up new possibilities for developing targeted combination immunotherapies and strategies to lower bowel cancer risk.

IN8bio's INB-100 Shows Promising Results in Leukemia Patients at EBMT 2023.

IN8bio has presented positive data from its Phase 1 trial of INB-100 in leukemia patients, showing that 100% of evaluable patients treated with INB-100 remained alive, progression-free, and in durable complete remission (CR) as of April 21, 2023. The latest data on immune reconstitution presented at the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) showed significant allogeneic gamma-delta T cell expansion and persistence in patients through the first 180 days post-treatment. The study's updated safety data reported low-grade graft versus host disease (GvHD) in all patients treated, which was steroid-responsive, and had a more rapid onset at higher dose levels.
