iPhone Messages finally guard RCS with end-to-end encryption in iOS 26.5

iOS 26.5 adds end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging in the Messages app by default (in beta). Encryption depends on both participants’ carriers, so not every conversation may be encrypted. To verify, open a chat’s details, scroll to the bottom, and check the status message: it will say whether the conversation is encrypted end-to-end or not (a lock icon may appear for some chats).
