Missouri Deputy AG Rescued After Six-Day Survival in Wyoming's Wind River Range
Shaun Mackelprang, a Missouri deputy attorney general, was rescued alive on Wednesday after being missing for six days in Wyoming's Wind River Range. He had set out on August 20 to summit Gannett Peak, the state's highest point, as part of a personal quest to reach the highest points in all 50 states. Search crews located him near Scott Lake, approximately 8.5 miles from the trailhead, where he was found dehydrated and disoriented. Authorities confirmed he had signed the summit register, indicating the incident occurred during his descent. He was airlifted out by helicopter in the morning. Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway expressed gratitude for the rescue efforts, while his brother noted the extreme difficulty of the terrain and the uncertainty of his survival duration.
